Why and So What?

The International Examiner has always had a mission to “promote critical thinking, dialogue, and action by providing timely, accurate, and culturally sensitive coverage of relevant APA matters,” according to their company history. This mission became necessary during the 1970s “Asian Movement,” during which many Asian-American citizens were facing discrimination, lack of proper housing, and lack of social services. This mission statement has become timeless, a necessary core during continuously trying times, and seeks to reflect the Asian Pacific Islander community.

The International Examiner has adapted to stay relevant and useful, creating an online media outlet that offers various images, videos, and sources to help subscribers gather more information.  Without such a paper, these 20,000+ subscribers would be hard pressed to get direct and relevant information that affects their community, rather than typical white-washed media.
